Ubisoft has revealed more details about Assassin’s Creed Odyssey during E3 2018. They released a full reveal trailer, as well as a healthy chunk of gameplay. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Reveal Trailer & Gameplay at E3 2018

It hasn’t been a year since the previous Assassin’s Creed, Ubisoft is already gearing heavily for the next one. As we’ve already known from a leak, the next game in the franchise will be Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, and it will take place in ancient Greece during the Peloponnesian War between Athens and Sparta. You’ll take on the role of either Alexios or Cassandra, an outcast and mercenary, because what else would you be in Assassin’s Creed? Oh, and you’re also the descendant of Leonidas himself, and wield his broken spear.

You’ll journey across all of Greece and the surrounding islands, by land and by sea, meeting historical figures such as Socrates, and directly affecting the course of history, presumably. You’re a Spartan outcast, and, spoiler alert, Athens won the war, so I predict some kind of change of heart in Alexios / Cassandra. Either way, it seems that the choices we make will very much matter. During the presentation, Ubisoft seemed very intent on hammering home that this is a true RPG experience, where this odyssey will be your odyssey. All the while, it seems that you’ll be fending off headhunters that are out for your blood.

The gameplay of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey seems to be more of the same from Origins. You still have a bird of prey at your side, and the people you meet believe that it’s Zeus’s eagle. The combat also seems similar, at least at first glance. Oh, and if you liked the papyrus puzzles in AC Origins, you’ll be happy to know that Odyssey will have the same mechanic, with the Ainigmata Ostraka, or the mysterious ostracon. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey comes out on October 5th, for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
