Note: The top of the list are issues with the final version, while you can scroll down if you want to see the problems from the beta.

Battlefield 1 controls not working in vehicles

Some people playing on PC are complaining the game stops responding when they enter a tank, plane or try to take control of a mounted gun. If this happens to you, you should try alt-tabbing, right clicking anywhere on the desktop, then returning to the game. It doesn’t work every time, but there are many reports of it helping.

L1/R1 shooting not working on Playstation 4

There’s no option in the game to allow you to switch to this mode. If you want to use this control scheme, you’ll have to change it in the console’s settings. Hopefully the developers add the option in a future update.

Battlefield 1 classes resetting

A lot of people are having a problem where their classes reset all the time. It’s a bug by all accounts, and you’ll have to wait for the developers to fix it with a patch. In the meantime, if you’re using the Battlefield Companion phone app, try uninstalling it. It might help.

How to use second screen as map in Battlefield 1

You can’t. Since the map isn’t shown through the battlelog anymore, but through a separate menu, you can’t really tear it apart from the game, so to speak. You’ll just have to hope the developers decide to add the option once they see how much the fans miss it.

Battlefield 1 Playstation 4 crash / error CE-34878-0

A small number of users are reporting the game constantly crashing and showing them the CE-34878-0 error message. There’s nothing you can do about it – your best bet would be to refund the game while you still can, since there’s no telling if this will affect enough people to warrant fixing.

Xbox One controller lag in Battlefield 1

A certain number of Xbox one players are having problems with input lag from their controllers. It’s most likely a bug, but here’s what you could try if you’re experiencing this:
  • Try to update your controller.
  • Attach a cable to it instead of using it wireless.

Battlefield 1 server disconnected error

A lot of people are having trouble connecting to the game’s servers. EA’s games often require a clear route to you, so you’ll have to forward some ports on your router to get them to work. Here’s a table showing which ports are required for which platform:

PlatformUDPTCP
PC3659, 14000-14016, 22990-23006, 25200-2530080, 443, 9988, 17502, 20000-20100, 22990, 42127
Xbox One53, 88, 500, 3074, 3544, 450053, 80, 3074
Playstation 43478-347980, 443, 1935, 3478-3480

Battlefield 1 PC crashes

Some PC users are reporting frequent crashes to desktop. If you’re having trouble with this, there are a couple of things you could do:
  • Disable your Origin overlay.
  • Update your graphics card drivers.
  • Disable DirectX 12.

Early Enlister preorder bonus & battlepacks for Battlefield 1 missing on Xbox One

If you’ve bought the Early Enlister edition, and you’re playing on Xbox, your battlepacks or preorder items might not be showing up. If that’s the case, here’s what you should do:
  1. Turn off the game
  2. Uninstall the deluxe edition content (not the whole game, just the add-ons)
  3. Install them again
  4. Run the game

Battlefield 1 Preorder codes not working on Playstation 4

The game hasn’t yet been released in all regions (at least digitally). If you can’t redeem your codes, it means the game isn’t out where you’re at. Just wait a couple of hours and you’ll be able to get your additional content just fine.

Multiplayer privileges unavailable in Battlefield 1

Some people are getting this error message while trying to access multiplayer on console. Our advice is to check whether your Gold/Plus subscription is valid – if not, you’ll need to renew it. If it is, your best bet is to contact Microsoft/Sony support.

Matchmaking failed & server lag in Battlefield 1

Sadly, the servers simply can’t withstand the onslaught of eager fans. You’ll have to wait this one out – there’s nothing you can do about it.

Battlefield 1 framerate drops on PC

More than a couple of players have complained about severe framerate drops in the PC version of the game. While unfortunate, the problem can be eased in several ways:
  • Update your graphics card driver.
  • Try lowering the graphics quality in the settings.
  • Close any background applications you don’t need while playing.
  • After you run the game, open the task manager, find the game’s process and set its priority to “high”.
  • If you’re using an Nvidia card, disable Shadowplay.
  • Make sure your RAM is working in dual channel mode (the modules should be paired according to your motherboard manual).

Battlefield 1 input lag on PC

If you’re experiencing input lag on the PC version, the only thing that could help you is disabling DirectX 12.

No hardcore mode in Battlefield 1

Hardcore mode is going to become available at a later date. “Close to launch” is the only approximation we could find. For now, you’ll have to live with having the HUD on and all that other stuff regular people deal with.

Cannot connect to Battlefield 1 Beta servers

If you’re getting a message saying You have lost connection to the EA servers, there’s nothing you can do about it. The servers are down, and you’ll have to wait until they’re back online. Keep checking every now and then – it’s probably nothing more than a slight hiccup.

Battlefield 1 Beta DirectX error

Some PC players are reporting getting a DirectX error which crashes the game shortly after they start it. If you’re one of them, here’s what you should do:
  1. Right click on the game in the Origin client.
  2. Select Game Properties.
  3. Check Disable Origin overlay.

Key bindings resetting in Battlefield 1 Beta

There’s a bug that doesn’t allow players to remap vehicle controls – after changing them and closing the menu, the game sets them back to default. There’s nothing to be done about this – you can either opt out of using vehicles, or use them with the default config, no matter how uncomfortable it is for you. Hopefully it gets fixed soon.

Battlefield 1 Beta black screen on PC

A certain number of players has been having an issue where a black screen appears shortly after the game is launched. Some of them report hearing the menu music from behind the blackness. It could be that the game is just taking longer to load – give it some more time. If that doesn’t work, check to see if Teamviewer is on. Turning it off solved the black screen issue for some.

Classes not ranking up in Battlefield 1 Beta

This is a known bug. The game rewards class XP only for the first match played on a server. To get around this issue, you should disconnect from the server after the match is over, and find another one. Keep switching after every game, and you’ll receive full XP rewards. Keep in mind, your classes will still rank up slowly – such is the way of the game.

Battlefield 1 Beta keeps minimizing on PC

There have been reports of the game minimizing on PC right after launch, then refusing to maximize. The issue has been noted, and hopefully the developers at DICE are working on setting it straight. You could try pressing Alt+Enter, but don’t get your hopes up.

How to customize weapons in Battlefield 1 Beta

You can’t. The option isn’t available in the beta (but it will be in the full game). You can only unlock new weapons using War Bonds, but there’s no way to tweak them at this point.

Battlefield 1 Beta memory leak

The memory leak is an issue some PC users have been having. As long as the game’s running, it keeps ramping up the amount of RAM it uses. It’s something the developers are most probably already working on, but in the meantime, you could try restarting the game every 30 minutes or so.

We’ll update the guide with more problems and solutions as we learn about them.
