There are some cool items to find in them, as well as easter eggs and even a boss. In this guide, we’re going to show you where to find secret areas in Ashes of Ariandel, how to access them and what to expect there.

Depths of the Painting secret area

To get to this area, you should spawn at the Ariandel Chapel bonfire. Exit the building and go to the hanging bridge. Hit it until it collapses. Use the bridge as a ladder and go down to the ledge. The giant roots protruding from the cliff can be used to descend even further, down to the icy floor. Once you’re there, you’ll see a new bonfire, which will allow you to explore the area without fear of dying.

Priscilla’s Tower secret area

To get here, you’ll need access to the crypt below Ariandel Chapel. If you haven’t reached it yet, you can find detailed instructions in our Parting Flame guide.

Travel to the Ariandel Chapel bonfire. Go through the door in the antechamber and down the stairs, into the crypt. Take the stairs on the other side of the room and go to the lower floor. Hug the right wall until you reach the third pillar (the ones on your left). Hit the illusory wall near it, and it will disappear. Exit onto the cliff, and use the giant roots to descend it. Jump down onto the brokend bridge, and you’ll be at the tower Crossbreed Priscilla used to call home.
