After you lower the cage to your friends you will get to some caves called “Frozen Encampments”. Inside the caves you will get to a split in the road and going left you will find the artifact. This crossroads comes after you fight those “suicide bomber” necromorphs with yellow explosive sacks.
After you kill a few guys with these orange/yellow bombs …
… you will get to a split in the road.
Your objective tracker will tell you to go right. Artefact is on the left.
