Ethereal key is an item in Destiny 2 Forsaken. It is used to unlock a special chest at the end of the Last Wish raid. As the raid was only just finished by the first fire team, a lot of people are wondering what’s in the chest and how to get their hands on the key in question. In this guide, we’re going to show you how to get Destiny 2 Ethereal Key.

How to get Ethereal Key in Destiny 2?

The chests in question are located at the end of the Last Wish raid, after you’ve brought the heart stone to Techuan. There’s an amphitheatre with a bunch of statues next to the room you’re transported to when you’re done. Each of the statues has a white chest in front of it.

You can open any one of these chests, and you’ll receive your portion of the raid loot. However, when you approach another chest afterwards, you’ll see a message saying an Ethereal Key is required. This could mean two things: either it’s a consumable you can find during the raid, in a secret chest or something akin to that, or it’s a way of stopping people from opening up all the chests.

If it’s the former, we’re going to keep looking for it and let you know if we find it anywhere in the raid. We suspect it’s actually the latter – in order to make players choose a chest and not just loot all 10-12 of them, Bungie made it so that you can open only one per run. This would mean the Ethereal Key is obtained by “simply” finishing the raid, and there’s no way to get more than one per run. It would also mean that the dozen chests scattered around the room are simply there as decoration. We’ll update this page when we know more.

Fun though- anyone considered the extra plates people have found scattered around the dreaming city, raid and nessus could be what grants the keys? They’re encryptions after all, and with 8 plates found so far that would explain the sheer amount of chests in the final raid room

You get the key by entering the first wish. You can find this wish in the shattered throne or in the internet
