Destiny 2 Gambit Mode Second Free Trial Weekend Announced

The Gambit mode in Destiny 2 Forsaken is a real breath of fresh air. It’s the game’s first PvPvE mode, and the gameplay is really fun. The only trouble with it, some might say, is that you can only play it with the Forsaken DLC. Well, even if you don’t own Forsaken, you’ll be able to give Gambit a shot this weekend. From Friday, September 21st, at 1 PM EDT / 6 PM BST, til Sunday, September 23rd, at the same time, everyone that owns Destiny 2 will have access to Gambit. Who knows, if you really like it, maybe you’ll decide to pick up Forsaken. In fact, I’m pretty sure that’s what this free weekend is all about, considering it’s one of the most alluring new aspects of the Forsaken DLC.

So, how exactly does Gambit work? Well, there are two teams competing with each other. The ultimate goal is to kill enemies and collect 75 motes, the little pyramid-shaped things they leave behind. Put them in the bank, and you’ll summon the boss. The first team that kills the boss wins. Seems simple enough, but it absolutely isn’t. Teams can mess with each other in several different ways. You can send enemies at each other, and even invade the other team. When invading, you can kill enemies, of course. But, if they summon their boss, you can invade and heal their boss by killing enemies on their side. It’s a ton of chaotic fun.
