Destiny 2 Open Beta Duration Extended to July 25th

Bungie has decided to extend the Destiny 2 open beta. Guardians will now be able to play the beta until July 25th. It’s supposed to end at 6 PM PDT. The reason behind this decision is that Bungie wants to test out the limits some more, citing “additional service testing” on the official Twitter account. They also mention some “more dangerous experiments”.

If you haven’t had enough of the Destiny 2 beta, you’re in luck. Bungie announced on the BungieHelp Twitter account that they’re extending the duration of the beta to July 25th, expected to end at 6 PM PDT. The reason behind the extension is “additional service testing”. Another tweet, from the Bungie account, also mentions “dangerous experiments”.

In other words, they’re planning to really push the game to the limit. Since the point of the beta is to put the servers to the test, Bungie is probably planning to really stress them out. So, don’t be surprised if you start experiencing some issues. And, unfortunately, they won’t be adding any more content to the game. What you see is still what you get.

So far, aside from the termite-infested launch, the beta seems to be doing okay. There have been some complaints, but that’s to be expected during beta testing. In terms of gameplay, the major problem many have had with the game is the effectiveness of weapons. Or, rather, the lack thereof. Fortunately, Bungie jumped in and increased power ammo drops and grenade power.

In other beta news, Bungie has opened The Farm, which is the new social space for Destiny 2. The Farm was stripped of all content, since the main goal was to see how many players can fit simultaneously. Apparently, they managed to squeeze 36 people in, which is twice the number from Destiny 1.
