It’s a bit unsettling, to say the least. Poor Moogles.

Their previous statements, about Moogle lucky items, made us think they’re going to be added to the game as a kind of charm. We though they were going to be carried around, providing good fortune to their owners. Alas, the truth is far more sinister.

The video shows off a Moogle doll. The stuffed toy is being used as a decoy, its only purpose to draw enemy attention away from Noctis and his friends. When thrown, it acts as a squeaky toy for the monsters of Eos. Their attention is diverted towards the poor thing, and they won’t let off until they’ve destroyed it.

While they’re busy tearing up a cute toy, you can use powerful area of effect spells to get rid of them all in one go. Keep in mind your Moogle will be damaged by the spell, too. Fireballs will char it, ice blasts will leave it covered in frost – all of this will shorten its lifespan. But that’s OK, it’s just a Moogle, right? You monster…

Thankfully, some enemies are too smart to fall for this. The trailer shows a monster similar to the Behemoth from the Episode Duscae demo ignoring the toy completely. We’re hoping there’s more Moogle items in the game, since the real ones won’t be making an appearance. We’re also hoping they won’t be based around Moogle bullying.

Final Fantasy XV is going to be released on November 29th, on Playstation 4 and Xbox One. There’s no talk of a PC version, but it’s probably going to happen at some point. Just don’t expect it any time soon.
