Fortnite Storm Tracker Backpack Was Added By Accident

Epic Games added backpack items to Fortnite BR in the latest update, starting with the Jetpack. However, they also added the Eye of the Storm Tracker backpack; an extremely useful item that shows players where the next storm circle will form. Sadly, that was a mistake, and it seems that Epic Games has decided to pull the backpack from Fortnite.

Epic Games is doing an amazing job at keeping Fortnite BR consistently fun and fresh. The latest edition are the Backpack item class, with the first of the bunch being Jetpacks (for more info, check out our article on how to get jetpack & use backpack items). It’s a lot of fun to use, and the concept of backpacks as an item you can find in chests sounds interesting. However, players have been finding another backpack in the game: the Eye of the Storm Tracker.

As the name implies, this backpack allows you to see where the next storm circle will appear. Needless to say, it’s incredibly useful for anyone that finds it. And, unfortunately, including it in the game was a fluke. According to Sean Hamilton, alias MrPopoTFS on Reddit: “The Storm Tracker was an idea that was being tested for one of those backpacks. This was not intended to make it into the v4.2 Content Update and we can’t promise this will ever officially be released. However, we do hope those who got their hands on it had fun while it lasted!”

So, there you have it. The Eye of the Storm Tracker backpack was a whoopsie. Assuming that Epic didn’t add it just to see the reactions, and are now playing dumb. But, either way, judging from Hamilton’s wording, they’ve now pulled the backpack from the game. Whether or not we’ll ever see it again, we’ll have to wait and see. Until then, have fun playing with the jetpacks!
