Extinction is the brain child of Iron Galaxy, with Modus Games acting as publisher. What they’ve come up with seems like a very strange mixture of Attack on Titan and Lord of the Rings, with orcs and ogres taking on the roles of Titans. The game is set in the kingdom of Dolorum, which is the last outpost of human resistance left in the world. The horrifying enemies, called the Ravenii, are closing in on the remaining kingdom, and humanity is on the brink of destruction. The monsters haven’t appeared in many years, so mankind’s infighting has left us weakened. That’s where you come in.

You take on the role of the Sentinel called Avil. You’re the last of a once proud order which defended humanity from the besieging monsters. Now, they are just a fairy tale. As is often the case in similar stories, you are the final bastion in whose hands the destiny if humankind rests. Over the course of the game, you’ll be fending off monsters big, small, and gigantic. The main draw of the games are definitely the battles with the enormous ogres. You’ll be flying and jumping around, destroying their armor and cleaving off body pieces, until you finish them off by decapitation. It looks absolutely awesome.

So, yeah, while the premise might not be the most original, Extinction seems like it could be pretty fun. The release date is April 10th, 2018. The game is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. If you’re interested, you can already pre-order the game on the official Extinction website. Meanwhile, you can check out the cinematic story trailer below.
