Far Cry New Dawn Gameplay Footage Video Revealed

Far Cry New Dawn has barely been announced, but Ubisoft is already working really hard to promote it. To be honest, considering how close the announcement was to the February release date, I’m not surprised they’re pushing the game so hard. The latest is a six-minute gameplay video, released by IGN. Between you and me, other than the post-apocalyptic setting, it really doesn’t seem that exciting. I mean, it’s Far Cry; you know exactly how it’s gonna play.

Looking at the video, I can say that the game does look surprisingly pretty. Apparently, quite a bit of time has passed since the canon ending of Far Cry 5. The game takes place after the nuclear winter, and during a super bloom. So, contrary to most games set in the post-apocalypse, Far Cry New Dawn is more colorful. Another cool element of the setting is the look of everything. All the gear looks slapped together (which it is, seeing as how you can craft them all), ruins are everywhere, and the other usual stuff. Seems like Mad Max set partially in Horizon Zero Dawn to me.

As for the gameplay itself, well… Nothing new under the sun. It seems like it’s gonna follow the usual Far Cry formula: follow the marker, get to the place, do the thing, liberate what- or whoever needs liberating. If you like this gameplay loop, then you’ll likely enjoy Far Cry New Dawn as much as any other Far Cry since 3. That’s about as much as I can say about it based solely on the video.

Far Cry New Dawn is coming out on Friday, February 15th, 2019. You’ll be able to play it on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. In the meantime, you can check out IGN’s gameplay video below and see if you like what’s coming our way. Although, as I’ve said, it’s just more Far Cry, really. You likely know already whether you’re gonna bother with it or not.
