Kingdom Hearts 3 got a new trailer at Disney’s D23 2017. As the name Toy Story trailer suggests, this will be the first foray into Pixar territory. In the video, Sora, Donald and Goofy get transported into the world of Toy Story, becoming toys themselves. They’re on a mission to find out what happened to Andy and some of the toys. The trailer confirms the game will come out in 2018.
Fans of Kingdom Hearts have been waiting for ages for a new game in the franchise. The first concepts for Kingdom Hearts 3 started circulating back in 2006, and development wasn’t confirmed until E3 2013. Well, it seems that the long wait will soon be over. The newest trailer for the game confirms that Kingdom Hearts 3 will come out in 2018. Unfortunately, that is all the information we have for now, as far as the launch date goes.
However, the trailer itself leaves enough room to speculate. It starts off pretty usual, with Sora, Donald and Goofy fending off the Heartless, when the scene fades to black, and the words “Don’t assume your dreams are just fantasy. If you can imagine a world, believe in it… and dive in” appear on screen. After that, we see that our three heroes have been turned into toys. They battle more toy-sized Heartless, and Buzz, Woody, Hamm, Rex and the toy soldiers walk into the scene.
The toys thank our heroes for defeating the Heartless, and explain that the other toys and Andy have gone missing. This is clearly the work of Organization XIII, so Sora, Goofy, Donald and the toys agree to work together to solve the mystery. Incidentally, the game looks magnificent, and that’s at least partly because certain Pixar members are working on it, including John Lasseter.
After the characters get to know each other, the video goes on to show us action scene after action scene, and the game looks like tons of fun. First, they do battle in Andy’s lawn, showing off some cool, devastating weapons. Then, we transition into a toy store, where we get to see Sora enter a battle mech and unleash chaos on the Heartless and Nobodies. In the end, we get a small hint as to what Organization XIII is after.
