Soulcalibur 6 Geralt Showcase Video Shows Behind-The-Scenes Details

As we’ve already written about two weeks ago, Geralt from The Witcher Series is coming to Soulcalibur 6. The Soulcalibur series, like most fighting game franchises, have had their share of crossover characters. However, this is the first time that Geralt is going to be a part of any crossover. So, needless to say, people from CD Projekt Red have been working closely with the team behind Soulcalibur 6 to bring Geralt into the game as faithfully as possible. They’ve given more details on the process in a new behind-the-scenes video, which you can check out below.

Featured in the video are three CD Projekt Red members: Borys Pugacz-Muraszkiewicz, writer and director of the English adaptations, head of animation Sebastian Kalemba, and Community Lead Marcin Momot. First off, Pugacz-Muraszkiewicz explains how the team wanted to keep true to Geralt from the games. They did everything to preserve his witcher traits – swordsmanship, acrobatics, alchemy, and magic use. And, of course, his sarcasm. Plus, they explain how exactly Geralt ended up in the Soulcalibur universe: Portals, of course, what else?

Kalemba talks about how the team had to rework Geralt’s fighting style to fit a fighting game. They had to readjust the center of gravity, for one. So, they brought in the original mo-cap actor for Geralt to supervise the animation. Basically, they did everything they could to keep Geralt a no-frills fighter, efficient and deadly; every move has a purpose, nothing is superfluous. No doubt, Witcher fans are gonna have a blast playing as Geralt in Soulcalibur 6. Plus, the new Soulcalibur can be an excellent introduction to the character.
