Pokemon GO Fest Chicago

First up, the Chicago Pokemon GO fest. It will take place in Grant Park, on Saturday, July 22nd, from 10 AM to 7 PM CDT. Although the bulk of the event will be taking place in Chicago, the whole world will be participating. There are several phases to the event, and here’s how it’s gonna go down.

In Phase One, trainers in Grant Park will have three challenge windows to catch as many Pokemon as they can. The challenge windows are from 11 to 11:30 AM, 12 to 12:30 PM, and 3 to 3:30 PM. During those times, those of you at the park will have to catch as many Pokemon as you can. Depending on which type of Pokemon you catch, you can unlock different perks for trainers worldwide. Here’s which perks go with which Pokemon type:

  • Fire – Candy Bonus
  • Water – XP Bonus
  • Grass – Stardust Bonus
  • Electric – Egg Distance Bonus
  • Ground – Buddy Distance Bonus
  • Normal – Encounter Rate Bonus

While this is happening in Chicago, all the other trainers in the world will also have to catch as many Pokemon as possible in the challenge windows. Depending on how many Pokemon trainers worldwide catch, three different tiers can be unlocked. Bronze will extend the bonuses that the Chicago trainers unlock by 24 hours, Silver will extend them by 48 hours, while Gold will unlock the Mystery Challenge, beginning the next phase.

Phase 2 will take place in Grant Park in Chicago only, from 6 to 7 PM. Considering that it’s a Mystery Challenge, we have no idea what exactly it’s going to be. However, if the Grant Park trainers manage to beat the challenge, they’ll unlock a “major global reward” for all of us!

Pokemon GO Europe Events – Safari Zone

European trainers have their share of events that they’ll be able to take part in. These will be organized in cooperation with Unibail-Rodamco shopping centers across the continent. During the Safari Zone events, trainers on location will be able to catch a wide range of various Pokemon, both from the Kanto and Johto regions, even Pokemon that you can’t find in Europe in normal circumstances.
