How to get back horse outside of whistle range?

Instead of walking back to your mount, which could take days in real time, you can just go to the nearest stable by any means at your disposal. You’ll be able to pick your horse from the stable any time you visit, so you just need to get there – you can use one of the many fast travel methods, or simply steal somebody else’s horse and ride there.
