Bandai Namco have released a new trailer for Tekken 7. The video is called Rage and Sorrow, and it explains the plot of the latest installment of the popular fighting game series. The trailer starts with kid Kazuya trying to fight Heihachi, only to be fed a spoonful of dirt and bitter defeat. It fast forwards to the present, where a bunch of fights happen in quick succession. We see some more familiar faces, like Nina Williams and Akuma. This is supposedly going to be the final part of the story, and the lifelong father/son conflict is going to be resolved one way or another.

The game will be coming in several editions. The deluxe edition contains the season pass, which consists of three DLCs. These add-ons will deliver new characters, stages, costumes and game modes. The collector’s edition contains a statue as well, one of Kazuya and Heihachi in the heat of battle.

The year is shaping up quite nicely for fighting game fans, it seems. Street Fighter 5 is in a much better state than at launch, Injustice 2 is just around the corner, and Tekken 7 is coming shortly after. And then there’s Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite, which is also supposed to land this year. Each of the games has its own fanbase, but there is some overlap, which could push the developers to try and out-do each other, which is always good for the customers.

Tekken 7 is going to be released on June 2nd, on PC, Playstation 4 and Xbox One. If you preorder it, you’ll get a bonus character – the vampire Eliza. Given the rocky launches the past couple of fighting games had, it’s better to wait, though.
