The launch of Tekken 7 ended up being a disappointment for a lot of players. Not because the game itself is bad, because that certainly isn’t the case. The reason that many people ended up underwhelmed and frustrated is because they are experiencing plenty of matchmaking problems. Some have reported that they managed to connect to another player once in ten tries, while others were even less successful.

Fortunately, Namco is on the case, and they’re working to alleviate these matchmaking issues. They released an update for Tekken 7 on the PlayStation 4 that should fix the problems, at least for that version. A similar patch will release for the Xbox One and PC versions some time next week. Below are the full patch notes for Update 1.02, as it appears on the PS4:

Improved Online Matching Functionality

  1. The following player information will no longer be displayed before a match:
    • Character selected
    • Wins
    • Rank
    • Title
  2. Connection with other players can be established more consistently
  3. Improved Stability
    • Addition of ON/OFF feature for voice chat
    • ON/OFF for voice chat added to OPTION menu.
    • Set to OFF as default setting.
