Restless crickets are a type of insect in Zelda Breath of The Wild. They’re tiny, energetic and live mostly in grassy areas. A certain side quest will task you with obtaining a handful of these bugs. While it seems like an easy task at first, many players are having trouble completing it. The crickets are tiny and hard to spot. Where to find restless crickets in Zelda BoTW
If you aren’t hurting for money, you could always buy them. There’s as merchant at Dueling Peaks Stable in the West Necluda region, called Beedle. He sells the crickets at 10 rupees a piece. This is the fastest way to get them, but it’s quite pricey.
If you want to collect them yourself, you should go to an area with high grass, like the Great Plateau (the starting region). Crop fields also sometimes house these critters.
How to catch a restless cricket
If you’ve decided to grab them yourself, you’ll probably have some trouble. The best advice we can give you is to cut the grass and watch closely. If you see something moving, mash A and hope you’ve caught it. Sitting near the TV or monitor might help – they’re tiny and hard to spot, so getting closer to the picture could be beneficial.
If you manage to spot one with your camera, it will be added to your compendium. Then you can use the tracking feature to help you find more out in the wild. Other than that, it’s just a matter of patience. Or simply farming rupees for a while so you can buy them.
Using stealth while walking through areas grassy helps.
I have been having a lot of luck playing my husbands switch. I try and listen for the noise the cricket makes and it gets me ready to click A as quickly as possible. As soon as you hit Y and cut the grass immediately hit A and you’ll catch automatically!
Just been doing this side quest. I’m getting a high hit ratio fir restless crickets by swinging an eightfold long blade in tall grass. But I’m doing a fuller swing – holding down the attack button until it chimes with using a bit of stamina (sorry not sure what this technique is actually called).
Anyway with this method I managed to find 10 crickets within a few minutes. I also found some fairys too as a bonus. 🙂
Hey I googled how to catch these guys and this is the first site that popped up. Wanted to leave a comment and let you guys know that they are often found under rocks so always pick those up.
I’ve noticed that you’re more likely to find them in sunny patches of tall grass with less trees around. So keep an eye out for spots like that.
There is a large field of grass to the right of duel peaks stable, if you chop through it you can find a whole bunch. And it’s much easier to get a picture of one if you hold one and let it go than if you try to take a picture of one you found in the grass before it hops away!
