Quarantine Zone Lone Walkers Quest Zombie Locations

On Day 21 of the Quarantine Zone campaign, players receive the Lone Walkers bulletin board directive. This side quest asks you to eliminate three zombies walking near the camp walls. What isn’t always apparent is that these zombies do not spawn in every location outside the perimeter, and trying the wrong spots can waste a significant amount of time. If you’re stuck on this mission like I was, this little guide lays out the optimal approach to help you find zombies for Lone Walker in the most reliable way.

The Right Approach: Head to the Garage Area

You might be tempted to look for zombies from the guard tower to the right of the inspection checkpoint, but this is the wrong spot. Exit the inspection checkpoint area and then go to your left where you’ll find be the Garage area. This is where the zombies spawn most reliably. Some can even spawn inside the garage area, but more often, you’ll find them outside the walls. At the far end of the garage area, you’ll see doors that open as you approach. Move through these and climb the guard towers overlooking the outside walls. From this elevated vantage, you’re likely to spot zombies wandering beyond the base. From the towers, look for zombies near cars or out in the open beyond the wall. If not enough spawn for you to finish the Lone Walkers go do some inspections and then return to see if more spawned.

Tips for when not enough zombies spawn to complete Lone Walkers

It happens that only one or two zombies spawn outside the walls in the garage area. Don’t worry! Here are some things you can do to get all three to show up and that way complete the Lone Walkers in Quarantine Zone.

  • When you look at the outside from the towers you might only notice one or two zombies. More are actually behind the trucks and cars so wait for them to walk out into the open.
  • Look for the zombie inside the garage area to see if it spawned. One spawns 50% of the time.
  • If all else fails press ESC and choose Restart Day option. This will reload the day with new weather conditions and perhaps better zombie spawns.
  • Make sure you go into your Base options (press B on keyboard on PC) and disable power to Defense towers. If you upgraded these to level III the soldiers on guard towers will shoot zombies automatically and you need them disabled so you can do it yourself. Just remember to re-enable them after you’re done with Lone Walkers.

Here’s a video showing how I’ve done it.
