There’s around a dozen of them, and you’ll have to stock up on bait if you want to collect them all. Fishing tourney rewards
As you can see in the image above, tournament rewards include a piscine wallpaper, a fish-shaped carpet, paintings and posters, bags, a shirt, an umbrella, a door plate, a magic wand, a rod rack, a cooler and a trophy.
In order to get any of them, you’ll have to get at least ten points, which means catching eight or more fish in three minutes. You get one point for each fish, and two bonus points if you catch more than three – hence the eight fish. It might sound daunting, but it’s easy enough if you approach it with a plan. Stock up on bait before you start, and just spam it as soon as the clock starts ticking. To get the trophy, you’ll need to score at least 100 points in a single day – if you want that one, make sure you have a boatload of bait.
If you still haven’t had the chance to take part in the tournament, it probably means you’ve missed CJ the beaver, the one in charge of the tournament. He’s only there for one day out of the entire month, which means you’ll have to be prepared for when he comes. Of course, like with anything else in the game, if you’ve missed the third Saturday of the month and aren’t in the mood to wait for CJ’s next appearance, you can just use time travel.

I feel I should step in here and note that you do NOT need to catch 8 fish in one go. If you only get 3, then that’s still 5 points added to your total. You don’t lose points unless you choose to swap 10 for a reward (their only use) and only the points needed are used up.
There are a LOT of rewards from each tourney, so get up early or time travel to the right time, because it ends at 6PM and these are some pretty nifty decorations for your home, island and character, if you like fishing stuff that is (the cooler serves as a wardrobe, by the way).
Hopefully someone can answer this: does redeeming points take away from your overall score? As in if I have 50 points and I redeem 10 of them for a prize will I only have 40 points now toward the trophy or are these somehow counted separately. If this is the case won’t you have to get over 400 points to get all the prizes AND the gold trophy?
No, your points towards the trophy are counted separately, turning them in doesn’t count against it!
Yes the 100 points do add up. Once you get them CJ will say you got 100 points.
One thing to note, when I initially talked to him, he said he’d stay until 6pm. After I completed one round of the tourney, he told me he would stay until 8pm. Just something I noticed!
