How to Get and Mine Brimstone in Crimson Desert

If you’ve been trying to craft Gold Bars at the witch in Crimson Desert but keep coming up short on ingredients, chances are Brimstone is what you’re missing. To make matters worse, if you’ve ever tried approaching a Brimstone deposit without preparing first, you’ve probably discovered the hard way that the toxic fumes will kill you. This guide walks you through exactly how to get Brimstone in Crimson Desert, find the best farming location, and mine it efficiently so you can keep those Gold Bars coming.

Step 1: Get the Brimstone Immunity Mask

Before you do anything else, you need protection from the toxic gas that Brimstone deposits give off. Head to the location near Burnhand Quarry, marked on the map screenshot below, and approach the small house you’ll find there. In front of the house, you’ll come across the Brimstone Gas Mask item. Picking this up and equipping it grants you Brimstone immunity, meaning you can finally approach Brimstone deposits without suffocating to death.

Step 2: Learn Nature’s Snare

With the mask secured, your next stop is the top of Three Saints’ Falls. Here you’ll find some ancient ruins next to which you’ll see a ghost performing a short animation. Interacting with it teaches you a special skill called Nature’s Snare for free. You can see the location on the map screenshot below.

You can always invest an Abyss Artifact into Nature’s Snare directly from your skills menu instead. Keep in mind that this method requires Keen Senses level 3 and Focus level 2 before Nature’s Snare becomes available to unlock this way.

Once you have both the mask and the Nature’s Snare skill, you’re fully equipped to start mining Brimstone.

Best Brimstone Farming Location in Crimson Desert: Deadfire Mountain

For the best Brimstone farming spot, head to Dead Fire Mountain. There you’ll find a toxic lake of Brimstone, and right in the middle of it you can unlock an Abyss Cresset, letting you fast travel back here whenever you need more supply.

This location has a couple of extra perks worth knowing about:

• It sits outside the Hex Sanctuary, so you don’t need to complete the quests required to unlock the Hex Sanctuary (which also has its own Brimstone mining spots) before you can farm here.
• The area is populated with creatures that drop Brimstone directly, giving you two different ways to collect it in the same spot.

You can attack these creatures for loot, and they’re best defeated by pressing R1 and R2 (or RB & RT on XBox controller). Once defeated, they’ll drop three to four Brimstone each.

How to Mine Brimstone from Vents

If you’d rather not fight constantly, you can mine Brimstone directly from the smoke vents scattered around the toxic lake. The process is a little more involved than simply hitting the deposit with a pickaxe, so here’s the breakdown:

• Press and hold down your right trigger to bring up your Force Palm.
• Press down on your left stick to activate Healing Force Palm.
• Move your left stick to aim your Healing Force Palm at one of the three vents.
• If you target correctly, releasing Healing Force Palm will plug up that vent so it stops releasing fumes.
• Repeat this on a second vent.

Once all the vents are plugged, you’ll notice a large plume of smoke pouring out. This is where Nature’s Snare comes in. Rotate your right stick clockwise, slowly, to start casting the skill.

Note: Nature’s Snare has historically been a bit buggy for some players. If it isn’t casting properly, try plugging your controller directly into your console or PC via USB cable – it tends to work more reliably wired than wireless.

As you hold Nature’s Snare, the smoke from the third vent will start concentrating around it, and a shiny ball will appear in the middle of all that smoke. The shinier it gets, the less smoke remains, until it clears completely. At that point, you can unleash the force of your Nature’s Snare, which expels a large amount of Brimstone from the vent – typically somewhere between four and seven pieces per vent.

How to Farm Brimstone Quickly

Once you’ve cleared one set of vents, simply repeat the process at the next location. Dead Fire Mountain has several vents you can farm this way, plus plenty of enemies to fight for extra drops.

A few tips to make your farming runs more efficient:

• Don’t kill every enemy in the area – leave at least one alive before moving on.
• Gather Brimstone from all the smoke vents you can plug and pop.
• Fast travel away and then back to the Abyss Crystal you unlocked earlier. Some of the smoke vents will have reset and become active again, and some of the creatures will have respawned too.

Using this loop, you can collect a large amount of Brimstone in a very short amount of time, which should be more than enough to keep crafting Gold Bars at the witch. For reference, the standard Gold Bar recipe typically calls for a handful of Brimstone alongside Mercury and a larger stack of Silver Ore, so stocking up on Brimstone in bulk here will save you a lot of backtracking later.
