Is Star Wars Outlaws Multiplayer?
Each time an adventure game comes out where the main character has a helper, people immediately want to know whether it will have multiplayer, and Star Wars Outlaws is no exception. After all, a companion like Nix would be perfect for a little sibling to play as! It’s even voiced by the illustrious Dee Bradley Baker (seriously, check out the man’s IMDb)! Well, I’m afraid I have some bad news on that front. Let’s get into it.
Will Star Wars Outlaws Be Multiplayer?
No, Star Wars Outlaws will most likely not have a multiplayer mode, be it co-op or competitive. It simply can’t and still have the game make sense; it’s not like you’ll get to create your own character with their own traits and abilities. Everyone will be playing as the same protagonist, the plucky Kay Vess. And I know what you’re going to say – but why can’t one person play as her animal companion, Nix? Well, I imagine the merqaal will not be that active of a character, being reserved more for distractions and solving certain puzzles.
In other words, I don’t think there’ll be enough for another player to do as Nix to warrant having it be a fully playable character. You know, more of a Ratchet and Clank / Jak and Daxter kind of deal. And as for ND-5, well, I’m not nearly familiar with the game enough to make any assumptions there. Bottom line is, there won’t be any multiplayer in Star Wars Outlaws. Not officially, at least. I wouldn’t be surprised if fans made multiplayer mods down the line. Which may or may not break the game entirely, we’ll have to wait and see.
Star Wars Outlaws is coming out on August 30th, 2024. You’ll be able to play it on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X and PC. It’s already up for preorder on the official Star Wars Outlaws website, and if you do so, you’ll get the Kessel Run Bonus Pack. It includes some cosmetics for your vehicles.
