Killer Instinct Coming to Steam This Year, New Character Announced
Killer Instinct will be making the jump to Steam later this year, according to the game’s official Twitter. There’s no more information about the Steam version yet. The game also has another character coming to the game, the Native American called Eagle. He’s related to Chief Thunder, a staple of the series.
Fighting game fans will be able to get Killer Instinct on Steam later this year. This was announced on the game’s official Twitter account. So far, the game had been an Xbox and Windows Store exclusive, but it’s finally making its way to other platforms. So far, there have been no more announcements about it, such as the price or what will come with the bundle. Considering that the game got a Definitive Edition (aka Supreme Edition) on the Xbox One last year, that will probably be the one they’ll go for.
Killer Instinct is also getting a new character – Eagle. He was announced on this year’s E3, and also got a release trailer. In the video, we learn about his backstory. Eagle tried to expose Aria to the world, but got captured. Aria copied his spirit and used it to build Fulgore, it seems. Later on, Glacius released him, and now Eagle continues his fight, with a bunch of cyber tech enhancements. You can check out the video below.
What’s interesting about Eagle is that the developers cooperated closely with the Nez Perce while working on him, according to Nicole Fawcette (via Polygon). She said:
Everything you see around Eagle, the way he looks, the weapons, his voice, the music, every single thing has been influenced by the team over in the Nez Perce community. The stories, the things he says, his taunts with the snake eyes, that is all authentic to the Nez Perce.
The Nez Perce are an indigenous people from the Pacific Northwest. They govern their reservation in Idaho, and they’re federally recognized. It’s a pretty great move from the developers to actually include a Native American people in the process of making a character that represents them.
