How to Get Baleful Fragments in Diablo 4

As far as we know, the only way to get Baleful Fragments in Diablo IV is by salvaging Legendary weapons. If you get a legendary weapon you don’t like or don’t need for your build, you can dismantle it at one of the Blacksmiths. Salvaging a legendary weapon will net you some Rare Crafting Materials. However, getting a Baleful Fragment when you salvage a Legendary weapon is not guaranteed. Furthermore, keep in mind that only Legendary weapons have a chance to drop this Rare Crafting Material. You will not be able to get it from any other legendary item, such as armour and other gear pieces.

Diablo 4 Baleful Fragments Drop Rate

As we’ve mentioned above, you are not guaranteed to receive a Baleful Fragment every time you salvage a Legendary weapon. In fact, based on the first few days, it seems that the drop rate is rather low. While there are no confirmed numbers yet, many players complain that the drop rate is exceptionally low. Based on the first tests done by some players, Baleful Fragments Drop Rate is below 5%.

Moreover, there are speculations that some Level Scaling is happening behind the curtain. Namely, some players suggest that Rare Crafting Materials drop rates will go up as you level up your character. Hence, as you progress through the campaign and beyond, Diablo 4 Baleful Fragments will start dropping more consistently. Finally, there are also reports that a Legendary weapon’s Power Level also influences drop rates of Rare Crafting Materials.
