Will Diablo 4 be available on Xbox Game Pass Day 1? This is a question many have been pondering since the announcement that Microsoft is going to acquire Activision Blizzard in January 2022. Is Diablo 4 Coming to Xbox Game Pass?

At the time of writing, more than a year has passed since the announcement of Microsoft’s intentions to purchase Activision Blizzard for a whopping $68.7 billion price. Over the last 12 months, the proposed acquisition has been under heavy scrutiny by various regulatory bodies all over the world. The deal has been a point of contention between Microsoft and Sony ever since, the latter arguing that this will give an unfair advantage to Xbox in the console market. Sony is mostly worried about the Call of Duty franchise, but what about Diablo?

After almost four years since the original announcement, Diablo 4 finally has a release date – June 6th, 2022. The game will not be console-exclusive. It will launch on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PS4 on Day One. However, what about Xbox Game Pass? Ultimately, it all depends if the deal with Microsoft will be completed by June. Microsoft states that each new Activision-Blizzard game will be Day One on Game Pass the moment the acquisition gets approved. If by June 2023 Microsoft officially owns Activision Blizzard, we will most likely see Diablo 4 on Xbox Game Pass soon after the release.

However, don’t expect to see Diablo 4 immediately on PC Game Pass. That’s due to Battle.net being the home of Blizzard’s games on PC. It will need to take some time before Microsoft and Blizzard coordinate their PC releases and platforms. At one point, we might even see Blizzard games on Steam! We will make sure to update this article as soon as there’s more information on the topic.
