When does FFXV Comrades Multiplayer Start?

Final Fantasy XV Comrades, the upcoming multiplayer expansion, launches on October 31st, according to the trailer that Square Enix revealed at Tokyo Game Show 2017. The video they released serves as a little introduction to the story of the expansion. There’s also little bits and pieces of gameplay, that players had the chance to test out during the closed beta. Though, the video does make sure to point out that the gameplay is subject to change.

As far as the story goes (warning: light spoilers ahead), it seems that Comrades continues right where the original FFXV left off. It would appear that, when Noctis “vanished into the light”, things took a dramatic turn for the worse. Great; nice to know that everything we did to save the world was worth it. Anyway, the world has been plunged into darkness, and an “age devoid of hope” began.

That’s where the titular Comrades come into play. You and your friends are new heroes that have risen up to the task of saving the world yourselves. You’ll kill monsters and do all the other things necessary to bring light back to the kingdom. All for the one true king, as the trailer says. And considering the timeline, of course you’ll get to meet characters from the base game, only this time, it’s “you” talking to them directly.

So, there’s a little over a month left to wait. Until then, you can watch the trailer below to whet that appetite a bit more.
