Ever since God of War was first announced, the weapons were the main focus of many fan discussions. The Leviathan axe was featured heavily in all pre-release material, which made a lot of fans ask themselves: is there another weapon in God of War? Everyone’s so used to the famed Blades of Chaos, and the switch was rather unexpected. However, this doesn’t mean there isn’t a second weapon in there somewhere. This article is going to be full of spoilers, so turn back if you don’t appreciate those.
Is the Leviathan axe the only weapon in God of War?
Luckily, it’s not. Right off the bat, you’ll have access to a shield. That might not sound much like a weapon, but there are skills that allow you to hit with it, and they’re nothing to scoff at. Kratos can also use his fists in combat, which is expecially useful if the axe is otherwise occupied (stuck in a gear somewhere, or something along those lines).
Then there’s the fact that mini-Kratos also takes part in combat. He’s equipped with a bow, and depending on how you spend your points, you can turn him into quite a little murder machine. Play your cards right, and he’ll do most of the murder while you sit back, relax, and enjoy the fruits of your parenting skills.
Are the Blades of Chaos in God of War?
Yes, they are! It’s a relief, isn’t it? Well, apart from the fact that you’ve spoiled one of the game’s reveals for yourself. Once you get them, they’ll give you some more abilities that will help with traversing the environment and solving puzzles. Most importantly, they’ll let you be the old, murderous Spartan you remember so fondly.
