Dogday Poppy Playtime Chapter 3

And while we’ve met many new characters and learned a lot about the old ones, the game also left us with many cliffhangers and unresolved mysteries. So, is Dogday coming back in Chapter 4? Here’s what we know.

What Happened to Dogday in Poppy Playtime Chapter 3

When we meet Dogday hanging in his cell, ripped in half, he will tell us an ominous story about little Smiling Critters. These little toys serve the CatNap to be fed and not end up being food themselves. However, during his monologue, a group of Mini Smiling Critters will appear from every direction, crawl inside Dogday through the torn-apart parts of his body, and possess him, resulting in the infamous chase scene.

At the end of that scene, when the player manages to close the door behind them right in front of Dogday, we hear a bloodcurdling scream. Presumably, this was Dogday’s last scream as he was being eaten alive by little Smiling Critters inside him. Thus, currently, the leading theory regarding his fate is that he was killed by these mini Smiling Critters on the orders of CatNap.

This is how the Last of the Smiling Critters met their end. All of them were slain for disobeying the prototype’s orders, leaving Dogday alone until Catnap, the prototype’s loyal minion, caught him and locked him in that cage to torment him until his final moments. However, the game is somewhat ambiguous here. We can not claim for sure that this was his end. Instead, we can only assume based on what we’ve heard and seen. Hence, take this theory with a grain of salt

Will Dogday Be Back in Chapter 4?

If we agree that Dogday is death, then he will not return in Chapter 4. Nevertheless, the developers have left enough room for other potential scenarios. Thus, the possibility of him returning in Chapter 4 is not out of the picture. However, the next chapter will not be coming out until at least 2025. At the end of the day, we will have to wait and see what the developers decide. If he will not be featured directly, we might see him in the form of flashbacks or through tapes.
