If you’re on Steam, try closing the app completely. I mean, fully exiting it, not even letting it run in the background. Then, restart Steam and the game and see if it works now. If not, find the game in your library and right-click it. Select the Controller option, and find and check Disable Steam Input. Save the changes and try playing the game again. You might need to disconnect other peripherals to make sure Steam can only use the controller for inputs. This should get rid of the problem.
