Outriders co-op and multiplayer are at the core of the game. You can play by yourself, but it’s meant to be played with friends, or at the very least, random strangers off the internet. If you’ve just started playing, you might have trouble getting into a party with friends. This guide will show you how to play with friends in Outriders, so you can enjoy co-op and multiplayer.
How to invite & join friends in Outriders
Playing with friends is much easier than with random strangers – you don’t even have to use the matchmaking stations in the camp. You can, but you don’t have to.
You can either invite them from the lobby, or the game menu, if you’ve already started playing. Pause the game and you’ll see a big button marked “Play with friends” on the right. Click it, and it’ll show you a list of all your friends currently playing the game. You can then either invite them to join your instance, or jump into theirs. If the host sets their game’s privacy to open or friends only, you can jump in without an invitation, too.
You can even play with friends on other platforms – the crossplay feature is there, but it’s experimental. You’ll have to enable it by hand – if you don’t know where to look, check out our guide on how to enable crossplay. Once you’ve enabled it, the host will have to generate a game code from the Play With Friends menu (it’s in the bottom left corner of the screen). They should then send it to the invitees, who can use the “join using game code” option to join the party, regardless of their or the host’s platform. As a great poet once said, it’s a kind of magic.
