In Star Wars the Empire Strikes Back, What Does Han Say After Leia Tells Him, “I Love You,” Just Before He’s Frozen in Carbonite?

If you grew up watching Star Wars, you know just how legendary the love between Han Solo and Leia is. Although sometimes described as a toxic relationship, they still cared about each other a lot. But they didn’t admit that until one particular moment in Episode 5. At one moment, the good guys are captured by Vader after Calrissian’s betrayal. Just before he was about to put in a carbon-freezing, Han said goodbye to Leia with a passionate kiss. She says to him, “I love you”! And what was Han Solo’s response here?

  • “I love you, too”
  • “I Know.”
  • “I love you so much.”
  • “I’ll be okay.”

An the correct answer is “I Know,” in a true fashion of Han Solo’s personality. The way Ford delivers this line shows confidence and shows that he is not afraid of what’s coming (he will be entombed in carbonite in a state of suspended animation). He also shows Leia that she should not be afraid as well and that everything will be fine. It’s such a simple yet effective line to show the essence of the relationship between these two characters.
