Gear are items you can equip your characters with in Injustice 2. It’s a new system, one that allows you to customize your fighters and improve their combat abilities. Each character has five gear slots – head, torso, arms, legs and special. The special slot is different for everyone – Wonder Woman has weapons, Superman has an emblem, etc. Unlocking new gear is a slow and arduous process, and many players don’t really get what they’re supposed to do in order to get new items. In this guide, we’re going to show you how to unlock gear in Injustice 2.
How to get gear
Here are the things you should do to increase your chances of getting new items:
- Play Multiverse matches. Not every match will reward you with gear, but it seems the better you do, the higher your chances of being rewarded.
- Buy mother boxes. Spend credits to purchase these loot containers – the more expensive ones have better chances of dropping epic gear.
- Play through story mode. You’ll get gear for the character you’re playing with.
- Level up your characters. You’ll sometimes get items as prizes for leveling up.
It’s important to keep in mind that local coop doesn’t reward you with gear. Playing with your friends on a couch will result in no items. The same goes for playing against the AI – this is seen as practice for the “real thing”, so you won’t get any drops.
How to get epic gear
Epic gear is the rarest and best kind of equipment in Injustice 2. You can increase your chances of getting it by focusing on the most expensive mother boxes. There are several pieces you’re guaranteed to get when you play through story mode with each character, so you shouldn’t put that off. Once you’ve got the best gear for your character, you can spend in-game currency to make it look like other items, without losing the stats. This way you get both the best stats and the look you like.
