Mortal Kombat 11 Surprise Reveal Announced in Trailer

NetherRealm Studios has apparently been working on some kind of extension for the main plot of Mortal Kombat 11. They’ve revealed as much via a new trailer, which shows what happens a few seconds after the main story campaign wraps up. Since we’re gonna be spoiling the ending of MK11, I’m gonna go ahead and put up a big ole SPOILER WARNING right here.

Last call for all of you that want to avoid spoilers: we’re really gonna ruin the ending of the story here, so click away now. This is your final warning. So, the story of MK11 kinda ends on a cliffhanger. Basically, when the heroes defeat Kronika, the goddess of time, Liu Kang ends up with the power to control time. Him and Raiden are poised to reboot the entire timeline yet again, because that’s just what fighting games do. However, just before he manages to reset everything, the camera swings away, and the cinematic just stops.

In the most recent trailer, that you can check out below, they show you what happens just after the camera cuts. Like, several seconds of what happens, but still. Basically, just as Liu Kang is about to work his magic, a portal opens, and a voice tells him to stop, before he “dooms us all.” Three shadows come out of the portal, and you can’t really tell who they are. Raiden turns around and, visibly shocked, says: “Shang Tsung?!” And, once again the video cuts to black. We’ll have to wait for May 6th to see what happens next.

Is it going to be a new DLC? Probably. Are you going to have to pay for it? Maybe, we’ll have to wait and see what’s going on. I, for one, can’t wait to see how they’re going to overcomplicate everything yet again. They rebooted the franchise in 9 to clean it up, and then immediately proceeded to shove all the nonsense back in, so I’m curious to check out what happens now.
