The game has a very similar formula to the iconic Baldur’s Gate II: Shadows of Amn and Planescape: Torment, bringing the massive RPG elements with an engaging story and memorable companions. The game will feature an isometric camera view and pausable combat, which is very useful for issuing individual orders in tense combat situations. Visuals are also vastly improved compared to the original Pillars of Eternity, with numerous weather effects and graphical details. The water effects look amazing, as well as the sandstorm that obstructs your view, while the clothing on your companion sways in the wind.
The game will encourage world exploration, with an engrossing story which will impact your companions, depending by the choices that you make. Deadfire is a direct sequel to Pillars of Eternity, taking place in the mythical world of Eora. You will be playing as a Watcher, with an ability to look into other people’s souls. The player will pursue Eothas, the god of light and rebirth, who has awakened and destroyed the player’s stronghold. Your search will take you to Deadfire Archipelago, located in the far east.
The release date is still unknown, but we can expect it some time next year.
