Plague Inc Getting Mode Where You Fight Disease in Future Update

The creators of Plague Inc. are planning a new update for the game, which will feature a brand new mode. In said mode, you’ll be fighting the disease to save humanity instead of trying to kill everyone. That stuff is a little too real right now. This update is inspired by their correspondence with CEPI and WHO when they donated $250,000 to COVID-19 relief efforts.

Plague Inc Getting Mode Where You Fight Disease in Future Update

We can all use a little ray of sunshine in these trying times. Leave it to the creators of Plague Inc., possibly the most referenced game these days, to provide one. For starters, they’ve donated $250,000 to CEPI (Coalition of Epidemic Preparedness Innovations) and the World Health Organisation’s COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund. This is a wonderful move on their part. After all, a lot of people are using Plague Inc. to try and make sense of the situation, so them setting an example like this is something I wholeheartedly support.

On top of that, the developers are also preparing a new, major update for the game. It’s going to add a brand new mode to the game, which turns the game upside down. Instead of playing as the disease, you’ll instead be trying to save humanity. For the first time, you’ll be in the shoes of the blue airplane guys. As the announcement puts it: “Players will have to balance managing disease progression and boosting healthcare systems as well as controlling real-world actions such as triaging, quarantining, social distancing and closing of public services. We are developing this game mode with the help of experts from the World Health Organisation, the Global Outbreak Alert and Response Network and more.”

There’s no set launch date or any further info about the update available at the time of writing. We do, however, know that it’s gonna be free for everybody. So, sit tight, everyone, and stay at home. That’s the only way to fight this disaster in real life; in video game world, we’ll be able to destroy it directly soon.
