Developers at Little Green Men Games make a point of listening to the community and making (or adjusting) their games accordingly. They did so with Starpoint Gemini 2, and fans seem to have appreciated it. However, they weren’t able to include everything. Which brings us to their newest game, Starpoint Gemini Warlords.

The game retains a lot of the elements of the previous installments in the franchise, but implements a lot of new features. To begin with, it adds the much-requested 4X gameplay. In other words, you get to build up and control your faction, expand your territory, and build powerful Planet Annihilator ships. To support that, the developers made the game’s universe much bigger (nine times bigger, according to them). Also, you can now explore the universe as you wish, since it’s now an open-world game.

Capital ships are still at the core of the gameplay, with fighters being an added ability. However, now you’ll be able to do more than just issue orders. Instead, you can opt to join your troops on the battlefield. The newly-added 3D space combat simulation allows you to be in the thick of it, experiencing the battle directly as it unfolds.

On top of the new gameplay elements, Starpoint Gemini Warlords introduces some changes to the already familiar mechanics. For example, they’ve revamped the ship classes and adapted the RPG elements. Gaining experience, unlocking new technologies and skills and earning ranks has changed in order to accommodate the new gameplay.

Starpoint Gemini Warlords is currently in Early Access and costs a little more than $30. However, it’s exiting Early Access soon. It launches on May 23rd, after which it will cost $34.99. If you’re interested in getting in on the action early, or want more information on the game, you can visit the Starpoint Gemini Steam page, or the official website.
