How to Unlock Second Base in Palworld

Before we talk about the best locations for your second base in Palworld, we first need to explain how to get access to it in the first place. As far as we know, the only prerequisite for the ability to build your second stronghold is getting your base up to level 10. And if you want to make three bases, you need to get your base level up to 14, as shown in the image above, but that’s beside the point. All in all, once you get to base level 10, you’ll be able to make another Palbox (1x Paldium Fragment, 3x Stone, 8x Wood). That second Palbox is going to be the first building of your second base.

There are several potential locations that are vying to be the best places for your second base in Palworld. Our top pick would be a bit of flat space slightly south of the Cinnamoth Forest fast travel point. It’s flat, which is really important; the flatter the area, the more you can build and the easier it is for Pals to go up and down stairs. Also, it’s surrounded with Ore deposits, wood and stone.

Option #2 is behind and around the Desolate Church fast travel point. Again, there are different Ore deposits and a ton of wood, as well as large flat parts that are ideal for building your base. Later on in the game (level 45 and above), you’ll start needing a lot of True Quarts. This means building a base in the snowy biome, and we’ve found a pretty good place to do it. However, this is more third base territory, no pun intended.

Should You Build Second Base in Palworld – Multiple Bases Benefits

Now that we know some of the best locations for the second base in Palworld, let’s talk about the benefits of having multiple bases, because you absolutely should build one. For one, you get another fast travel point. That’s always useful. Second, you have more room to build. Most people will make their first base near the starting point, which makes sense, but it’s not a lot of flat surface to really thrive. Making a second base lets you build more stuff.

Another important thing is access to more materials. If, say, your first base doesn’t have much Ore around it, building a second one and plopping some Mining Pals there can give you access to more Ore. Or you can get access to more rare materials, like Sulfur or Coal. Just do keep in mind that bases share the limit of active Pals working on them, which does dampen things a little. Also, bases don’t share storage, apart from the Pals you have in the Palbox.
