The streak broken issue, or the Special Research reset in the Pokemon GO Mystic Hero, happens on the third step of these Research Tasks. At one point or another, the entirety of your progress returns to zero. Granted, it doesn’t take you back to the first step of the research, but it does reset the third step completely. It can happen at any time, or it might not happen at all. It feels almost like every bit of the Special Research you do is a coin toss. At time of writing, nobody knows what the cause of the glitch is and there is no known fix, aside from doing the whole thing over. Except that you can’t, because the event is wrapping up.

So, that’s basically all we know about the Pokemon GO Mystic Hero Special research reset / streak broken issue. I know, it’s not exactly ideal, to say the least. Just one in the latest long series of Niantic’s blunders. Of course, a glitched event is not the end of the world, but the fact that it comes at a time when the player base and the developer are already butting heads really isn’t helping. The only real solution would be for Niantic to address the glitch. I don’t think they will, though, seeing as how Mystic Hero is ending. The one “fix” that remains is to just forget about that Lapras and keep trucking on. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
