Resident Evil 7 got a brand new trailer today, called Welcome Home. Unfortunately, there are no gameplay elements in it, it only presents the scary home of the Baker family. At the beginning, the narrator says the words: “Home, a welcoming place, a haven of safety and warmth”, while showing us a mattress with an axe and some ropes on it. You can check out the full trailer below:
The press release we got contained only the following:
Come inside into the warm, friend. You’re late for supper, and it’s about time we introduced you to our little family.
As you continue watching the trailer, you will see the famous mannequins scattered throughout the house. They will definitely scare you while you play, since they change their positions as you pass them by.
The trailer also features a kitchen table stacked with different organs, and even a human hand. It looks creepy indeed, and the developers from Capcom will definitely try to show us all the creepy stuff once the game is released.
Resident Evil 7 will be played from a first person perspective, and it will support the VR option on Playstation 4. Owners of the Sony VR will have a chance to try out the game from start to finish with the headset, for a more immersive and even scarier experience. Of course, it’s totally optional. The core gameplay mechanics will remain identical between both modes.
We can also expect a lot of puzzle solving inside the house, as well as creepy ghosts that will jump out and scare us when we least expect it. There will be a variety of weapons for us to use, but according to the developers, we should not expect a lot of actual fighting.
Resident Evil 7 Biohazard will be released for Xbox One, Playstation 4 and PC on January 24th in North America and Europe, and January 26th in Japan.
