How to Revive Kelvin Sons of the Forest, Kelvin Respawn

Kelvin is one of the two companions in Sons of the Forest. He is the only other survivor of the crash besides you and is the first person you interact with on the island. As a companion, he can be instructed to do things such as make a fire, gather materials, and so on, making him a very useful addition to the game. Players that have accidentally gotten him killed are wondering how to get Kelvin back. Can you respawn Kelvin and Virginia or are they gone forever? Luckily, there is a way to do this, though it requires that you mess around with editing the game files. Needless to say, this isn’t an official method, so do this at your own risk. With that said, let’s see how to revive Kelvin and Virginia in Sons of the Forest.

How to Revive Kelvin in Sons of the Forest – Respawn Kelvin

As of right now, the only way you can respawn Kelvin in the game is by editing some game files. Needless to say, you should only attempt this if you are absolutely sure that you know what you’re doing. And even if you do, there’s no guarantee that you won’t end up making your game unplayable or cause some other problems or bugs. Because of that, we recommend that you make a copy for every file that you are going to edit here. This is so that you can replace them with the original in case something goes wrong. Also, this method won’t work if the body has disappeared. And with that disclaimer out of the way, let’s get into the process itself:

  • Step #1: Find the Sons of the Forest save files. By default, these should be here “AppData\LocalLow\Endnight\SonsOfTheForest\Saves”.
  • Step #2: In here, find the GameStateSaveData.json file and then open it in Notepad. Change “IsRobbyDead\”:true” to “IsRobbyDead\”:false”. Save the file.
  • Step #3: Next, find and open the SaveData.json in Notepad. Search for “TypeId\”:9″. Immediately below it, you’ll find the “\”State\”:6″ value, which you need to change to “State\”:2″. Find “Health\”:0.0″ and change it to “Health\”:100.0″. Save the file.
  • Step #4: Start the game. If you have done everything correctly, Kelvin should once again be alive in the game.

You can also do this for Virginia as well. Here’s how:

  • Step #1: Find the Sons of the Forest save files. By default, these should be here “AppData\LocalLow\Endnight\SonsOfTheForest\Saves”.
  • Step #2: In here, find the GameStateSaveData.json file and then open it in Notepad. Change “IsVirginiaDead\”:true” to “IsVirginiaDead\”:false”. Save the file.
  • Step #3: Next, find and open the SaveData.json in Notepad. Search for “TypeId”\10”. Immediately below it, you’ll find the “\”State\”:6″ value, which you need to change to “State\”:2″. Find “Health\”:0.0″ and change it to “Health\”:100.0″. Save the file.
  • Step #4: Start the game. If you have done everything correctly, Virginia should once again be alive in the game.

We’d like to thank Reddit user arnoldochavez for figuring out how to do this. You can see the Reddit thread where they explain the entire process here. And if you are unsure about how this looks like in action, you can refer to this YouTube video by Richie Po.
