Watch Dogs Legion 404 Mission Bugged on Xbox
Mission 404 in Watch Dogs Legion on Xbox One X has been causing a lot of trouble for players. Specifically, it causes the console to shut down due to overheating, completely blocking off the rest of the game. As luck would have it, the 404 mission is a part of the main story campaign. The 404 mission in Watch Dogs Legion has a game-breaking bug that makes completing the game completely impossible, as we’ve already said. And just how funny is it that the name of the mission is 404? That’s too good to be true. Unfortunately, it’s painfully true for all Xbox players. The quest happens some six to eight hours into the main campaign. At one point, your Xbox One X will throw up a notification that it’s going to shut down due to overheating. It will promptly do so, because, well, that’s what it’s supposed to do.
Now, the bad news is that there’s no fix or workaround for this problem. The Watch Dogs Legion 404 bug on Xbox is here to stay for the time being. On the “bright” side, the developers are aware of the issue and are working on repairing it. The patch planned for November 30th will supposedly get rid of this bug. I know, I know, that still means that your copy is effectively unplayable for two more days, but that’s just how things are. The 404 mission bug on Xbox doesn’t seem to affect Watch Dogs Legion on other platforms. That’s not to say that the PlayStation 4 Pro version is without its own problems and freezes and whatnot, but you can fix those by, at worst, restarting your console. There’s no coming back from the 404 thing. I’m sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
Yeah I basically started counting the crashes once I hit like the 15th one, I’m up to the 67th game crash so far – about 9 hours in… (Xbox One). The mission I’m on now that just REFUSES to play without freezing and booting me to the dashboard is called ‘Initiate Sequence’ it’s the very first 404 main mission; I just woke up and the first thing I wanted to play was WD Legion, the game crashes not even 60 seconds into the mission, so this isn’t a matter of a overheating console for me.
I’ve noticed so many other bugs in the game, to name a few – rear view in the car not existing, all the shops on the map only come up as ‘Shop’ so you can’t tell what what shop you’re going to when you want to buy clothes. Sometimes when I start a cutscene my character clips through objects and when the cutscene is over I’ll teleport around my vicinity while taking damage. Many side quests show up on the map but when I get there nobody and nothing is there to trigger the mission start. Aiming at an object or person to hack feels sticky sometimes, it’s like trying to pick up a moving apple from a water source in a Bethesda game (hopefully you get the reference).
There have been more than this but those I can deal with, what I can’t deal with is the crashes that deny me the completion of a game I spent $100+ on, that’s the most money I’ve spent on a game in like a decade and this is the first game I’ve actually gotten at launch within that samr time frame so this doesn’t look good especially since I like AC way more than WD and I’m looking forward to Valhalla.
I just hope Ubisoft are aware that this laziness does come with consequences. Also fyi I predicted before launch that they went full throttle on the marketing, changing the game titles to WD Legion references in all the game stores *because* they were aware of these issues before launch, but even then this was way worse than I imagined.
