How to Catch Wasps & Earn 2500 Bells in Animal Crossing New Horizons
Wasps are one of the early terrors of Animal Crossing New Horizons. They drop out of random trees, attacking you when you’re just trying to gather branches for your next project. But a wasp encounter doesn’t have to be a traumatic event. Did you know you can sell wasps for 2500 bells apiece? Well you can. This makes them extremely lucrative, especially early on, when you’re scrounging for money and selling butterflies for 1/10th of that amount. This guide is going to show you how to catch wasps & earn 2500 bells in Animal Crossing New Horizons.
Catching wasps in Animal Crossing New Horizons
First off, make sure you have a net. Then, go and buy a Tool Ring. It can be obtained by redeeming 800 miles, so you might have to save up a bit. It’s important, because it freezes time when you use it instead of the inventory screen to switch tools. If you end up being surprised by a wasp, this will allow you to switch to a net without worrying about getting stung. When a hive falls out of the tree, run away only for a little while, then press up on the D-Pad, pull out the net, turn around and catch the wasp.
If you just want to farm wasps for profit, go up to a tree and stand in front of it. Pull out the net, then shake the tree. If there is a nest, it will fall down directly next to you, and your character will turn to face it. All you have to do in order to catch the wasp is swing the net. Easiest money you’ll ever make.
If you get stung by a wasp, you’ll walk around with a swollen eye. You can cure it with medicine, but that’s just wasteful. Instead, let another wasp sting you, and you’ll faint, which is useful since you get miles out of it. If you still want to cure your swollen eye instead of earning some miles by losing consciousness, you can craft medicine from wasp nests – you’ll get the recipe when you get stung for the first time.
As long as you are lined up in front of the tree with a net out, all you have to do is mash ‘A’ over and over when the nest drops. The animation will move your character for you, so all you have to do is swing. If you do happen to get stung, a free method of getting medicine is just talking to your villagers. One of them will give you a free bag out of pity so you never have to craft medicine ever.

I am playing animal crossings new horizons and I have not had any wasp encounters in 6 days. I am not sure what has happened or how to fix it. Any ideas?
You have to shake all non-fruit trees.. Some if them have hidden bugs, wasps, coins and furniture
I caught a really awesome YouTube how to – it mentions only keeping 17 non fruit trees so you will be guaranteed to get something from them all. 5 wasps, 2 furniture, and 10 bells.

Also, it’s best to save and sell the wasps to Flick instead of the nook store, as they will give you even more money for them.
AND if you really want to make money from this – save the wasp nests til you get the ‘Honeycomb flooring’ item. It takes 5 nests to make but will net you more bells per nest. Flooring sells for 3000, 1 nest for 300 – meaning that 5 nests will only get you 1500 bells and the flooring doubles that to 3000 😀
