EXFIL with the Uncommon Aether Tool Plans in Modern Warfare 3 Zombies Saboteur

Saboteur mission in Modern Warfare 3 Zombies requires you to Exfil with the Uncommon Aether Tool Plans. When I first attempted the mission the plans did not drop from the Aether Extractor Contract the mission asks me to do. It doesn’t help if you don’t manage to complete all the steps of the mission in one deployment either. Once I finally managed to down the reinforcement helicopter I had to look for the uncommon aether tool plans. Here’s some things I learned from playing the Saboteur mission in MW3 Zombies solo and where uncommon Aether tool plans drop.

Where to get Uncommon Aether Tool Plans in MW3 Zombies?

Every crafting schematic in Modern Warfare 3 Zombies has a chance to drop when finishing various contracts on the map. The higher the threat difficulty the higher the chance of getting a schematic. Uncommon Aether Tool Plans schematic won’t drop until you are on the Saboteur mission. Rest easy, the chance for it dropping while you’re on this mission increases significantly. Since the mission teaches you how to do the Aether Extractor contracts I recommend doing several of these. It is bound to drop in the Reward portal. If doing it solo then stick to low threat tier 1 areas. Also, you have to destroy the reinforcement helicopter portion of the quest first.

If you’re not having luck try higher threat level version of the contract. Make sure you upgrade your weapon with pack-a-punch 1 or, even better, 2 and go into the yellow painted part of the map. Bring a friend or two because higher threat level version of the mission requires you to destroy 5 Aether extractors.

Shoot Down a Reinforcement Helicopter in Saboteur Solo

Maybe the Uncommon Aether Tool Plans didn’t drop from me from the Aether Extractor Contract the first time I was doing this mission because I did not shoot down the reinforcement helicopter while doing it? I actually believe this is the prerequisite for the plans to show up in the contract reward portal. To shoot it down you’ll need an RPG. You can loot one in Urzikstan, but they rarely show up. I would recommend you bring JOKR from you Insured Slot and use a contraband weapon as your primary for clearing out regular enemies.

I suggest that when in a group one of you is a dedicated destroyer of the reinforcement helicopter while others clear out mercenaries. When solo you will probably have to do this through several deployments or doing the same type of contract several times. Hide behind a building after you attack the mercenaries on the ground and they call in helicopter reinforcements. Lock onto the helicopter as it approaches. One shot from JOKR should be enough. As a solo player you might not finish the contract in time. Now is the time to go do another Aether Extractor at a different location and this time just concentrate on completing it. You should now receive Uncommon Aether Tool Plans as a guaranteed drop.
