Why is Disguise Removed From DMZ?

Disguises in DMZ are a Field Upgrade added back in August 2023. Players were able to find the Disguise Field Upgrade as random loot in chests, duffel bags, and other loot locations. By equipping a Disguise, players were able to camouflage as members of AI armies on the map. By doing this, you could avoid combat and save precious resources, which was particularly useful for solo players.

However, at the start of 2024, many players noticed that the Disguise Field Upgrade is no longer dropping from loot. Suspicions that the Disguise has been removed from DMZ were confirmed yesterday. Namely, the official Call of Duty Updates account stated that this Field Upgrade was temporarily removed from the game in a recent small update.

When is Disguise Coming Back to DMZ?

As confirmed in the tweet, the Disguise was removed only temporarily until the developers “investigate an issue”. At the moment, we are not sure what this issue is about. Nevertheless, the fact that it warranted a removal means that it was probably game-breaking in some way. If you happen to know what this issue was about, share it with us in the comments section!

So, when is the Disguise Field Update coming back to DMZ? Activision hasn’t provided any dates yet. Hence, we can only speculate. Our current estimation is that they might add it back on Wednesday, January 17th, 2023. That’s the release date of Season 1 Reloaded, and it seems like a perfect time to return Disguise as well. Nevertheless, we will follow Call of Duty social media and update our article as soon as we have an official date.
