Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2 Unsupported Device Warning Explained

Modern Warfare 2 Season 3 is here, and it is probably one of the richest in terms of new content and features across all Call of Duty games and modes. However, it’s not all just about new content. One of the biggest complaints many COD players have ever since the release of the original Warzone are cheaters. The abundance of cheaters almost ruined Warzone 1. Luckily, with the introduction of the Ricochet Anti-cheat, many of these problems were seemingly solved. However, there are still issues with cheaters. With the addition of ranked play in multiplayer and battle royale, solving the cheating issue seems more important than ever before.

Why are we saying this? Because the MW2 “Unsupported Device Warning Your account utilized an unsupported external hardware device to interact with the game,” message is related to that. Namely, this is a part of the Ricochet Anti-cheat update in Season 3. The system, Activision claims, will now be able to detect tampered devices. Which some players might use for an unfair advantage.

As the official blog post explains, “Users across PC or console who are detected to be using third-party hardware devices to impact the Modern Warfare II or Warzone 2.0 gameplay experience will first see a warning about the improper use of these devices”. Hence, if you receive this message, the system thinks you are using those peripherals for cheating. However, if you think there’s an error, you should contact customer support and explain. For now, we advise stopping using the disputed device, as you might get your account banned. That said, that’s all you need to know about the “MW2 Unsupported Device Warning” message.
