If you’re into Cyberpunk 2077 (and who isn’t) and dressing up (and who isn’t), we have some good news for you. CD Projekt Red have announced an official Cyberpunk 2077 cosplay contest, for fans of spandex and system oppression the world over. Prizes include copies of the collector’s edition of the game, various goodies and MONEY. Quite a bit of it, actually, at least if you manage to out-cos all the other cosplayers.
Here’s the skinny: you get to dress up as any character from the official “video game materials” – this includes gameplay trailers, character sheets, screenshots and concept art. You get done up well and good (but only if you’re over 18), then submit your costume. You can do this online via the contest website, until November 30th. However, you can also do it in person, at one of the five upcoming game shows CDPR will be attending. This includes Gamescom, PAX West, TGS, Igromir and the Paris Game Week.
The developers will then choose 10 finalists – 5 from the online submissions and one from each of the conventions – and fly them to the final event, which is supposed to take place in 2020. This is where the top three costumes will be chosen, and be rewarded for their effort. All three will get the collector’s edition of the game, some swag and a “kick-ass trophy”. The winner will receive $15.000 in prize money, second place can expect $10.000 and the third cosplayer will get $5.000.
I’d love to see someone dress up as my favorite character – the pair of disembodied legs with high heels and neon tape, as seen on the right side of the corner above. Other than that, no favorites here. They haven’t really shown off that many characters, so expect a lot of folks dressed as Dex.
