Symbol of Avarice is a helmet in Dark Souls 3. It’s the head of a Mimic, a monster disguised as a treasure chest.

Wearing it will increase soul gain and item discovery, but will steadily drain you health. In this guide, we’ll show you how to get Symbol of Avarice in Dark Souls 3.
Mimic Chest Locations
The Mimic Head helmet can be obtained as a drop when killing Mimics. Every time you fight one, there’s a chance it’ll drop it. Here are some of the places we’ve found Mimics while playing:
Area: High Wall of Lothric Where to find: Spawn at the first bonfire, then go left. Go past the hollows praying to the dragon corpse and get to the tower with the live dragon. Roll through his flames and enter the tower. The mimic will be on the lower floor. If you have ranged weapons or spells that do damage, you can kite him to the upper floor, then jump onto the platform across the gap and shoot him safely from there.
If you clear out a bunch of mimics and still don’t get it – don’t worry. The game has a fail-safe for this: the last mimic in the game will certainly drop the Symbol of Avarice, if those before him do not. All you need to worry about is finding them all. To help you with that, we’ve compiled a list of all Mimic Chest Locations in Dark Souls 3.
Symbol of Avarice Stats & Description
Description: Head of the avaricious creature that mimics treasure chests. Can be worn, if one so wishes. Increases soul absorption from defeated enemies as well as item discovery, but the curse of the branded also drains HP.
The very form of this creature is thought to be a form of brand, a punishment for sin.
It’ll drain your health at a steady rate, if you decide to wear it. It ignores armor, so it’s essential to have high VGR when using it. Having as much estus flasks as possible wouldn’t hurt, either. On the upside, your item discovery will increase significantly, so you’ll get much more items from enemies. You’ll get more money from killing stuff, as well.
I got mine from one of the two near yorm the gaint didn’t get it first play trhough but I did my second time the first time I think I missed one I’m about 100% shure I missed one or two I also had used a gold coin that helped me in shure and I have the gold serpent ring to help drops if this helps anyone out
I did not have the helmet and had missed both mimics in Lothric. I killed the sunlight sword mimic and then the titanite mimic. No helmet. I went back to where the sunlight sword mimic was before I killed him. No helmet. I reloaded the game. Helmet appeared. I had already killed all bosses except the final boss. Hope this helps!
I killed every mimic in the game and didn’t get symbol of avarice. Double checked all locations again and no helmet.
So, thats not guaranteed drop. Probably chances increases with each mimic killed but it’s not 100% drop in your playthrough
So i killed every mimic in the game, trust me i found them all and killed them all and no sign from any of them. I then came here and saw the post to recheck them. I did that as well and no sign its a 100% lucky drop or its a bug and its bullshit. It is not fair to have something that is farmable and only farmable if you leave one and keep using the hunters charm to farm it. or go into ng+ and hope to get it in complete its just not fair to have it as a lucky drop you should be able to get it after killing them all but thats is a false statement
I thought at first I wouldn’t be getting the Symbol of Avarice either, since I killed all of the mimics but didn’t get it. I revisited all of the mimic locations to see if it was laying on the ground, but it was nowhere to be found. But after killing Lothric, I found it laying on the ground in Lothric Castle where the mimic with the 3 titanite scales used to sit. Which is weird, because that was not the last mimic I killed. The last I killed was the one with the sunlight straight sword.
So I don’t know what makes the symbol of avarice spawn, or how it decides where to spawn, but if you haven’t gotten it yet I highly recommend killing prince Lothric and then checking all locations again.

Wrong. I have killed every single Mimic in this game and never got the Symbol of Avarice. I really wish people would stop claiming it’s a guaranteed drop at the end. That simply isn’t true.
Would you care to tell us few who haven’t gotten lucky enough to obtain the Symbol of Avarice where that specific mimic is located? It would be much appreciated.
Nevermind, I just revisited the last location in Lothric Castle (drop down from the wall breach – left side before the boss – and turn around) and the symbol was just sitting there were I killed the last mimic originally. No idea why I didn’t get it initially, but there you go.
all you have to do is hit it once, use a undead hunter charm to get what is in it then put it to sleep again and it should give you it, i try a third after it and nothing so. and i have 9 luck so its not like its that, i just started ng and killed that priestess to get to lotheric quicker, ran into two or three got it twice already

You can get it again. It is a random drop from mimic chests.

I also found if you use a rusted or gold coin before you kill it it drops. It happened twice in a row on one of my toons.
