How to Get Malignant Hearts in Diablo 4 Season 1

Around a month and a half since the game’s launch, Diablo IV is getting its first season. Called Season of the Malignant, the new season is all about this “deviant form of Lilith’s sinister machinations” known as Malignant Monsters. With the help of Cormond, a former priest of the Cathedral of Light, you will learn how to fight these beasts and capture the Malignant Hearts fueling them.

So, how to get Malignant Hearts in Diablo 4 Season 1? Slaying Partly Corrupted enemies, a type of Malignant Monster, will drop a Malignant Heart. However, you can not simply pick them up once dropped. Namely, you will need to acquire the Cage of Binding. This item will allow you to perform a special ritual in order to capture a Malignant Heart. You will receive this item naturally as you complete the story quests in Season 1. However, keep in mind that performing this ritual will wake up Partly Corrupted enemies, who will then become Fully Corrupted enemies.

“One of the best places to acquire Malignant Hearts are in the new Malignant Tunnels, highly replayable Dungeons teeming with fearsome foes to eradicate,” reads the official blog post. “Scour this dank system of tunnels for the catalyst of Malignant Monsters and go toe-to-toe against Varshan the Consumed, the newest Boss battle, if you dare.”

How to Use Malignant Hearts in Diablo 4 Season 1

Diablo IV Season 1 will introduce 32 Malignant Hearts across four categories. These will provide new and unique bonuses for all classes. The tougher the Malignant enemies, the better bonuses will be. In addition, when you beat a Fully Corrupted enemy, they will drop a special version of Malignant Hearts, which can be placed into special Infested sockets in your Jewelry, where you would normally put a Normal Gem.
