Fallout 76 How to Change Pip-Boy Color

Pip-boy color is a big issue in Fallout 76. Players spend ridiculous amounts of time staring at the portable screen, and a lot of them don’t enjoy the green hue it starts off with. Previous games allowed you to tweak the color to your liking, so people ended up having blue, pink or white ones. This time, there’s no apparent option to change it, and a bunch of players are frustrated by this. In this guide, we’re going to show you how to change pip-boy color in Fallout 76.

Fallout 76 How to Change Pip-Boy Color

Some have mentioned there’s a way to buy new pipboy colors in the Atom Store. This is not true – the store sells paints that change the outwards appearance of the pip-boy, not new light colors which change how the text looks.

How to change pipboy color in FO76?

First of all, there’s no official way to do this. You can press a button to switch between the full view (the green one) and the quick view (the white one with the floating menus), but that’s about it. However, if you’re on PC and you aren’t affraid to get your hands dirty, there is a way.

Go to Documents\My Games\Fallout 76\ and find a file called Fallout76Prefs.ini. Make a backup copy, then open it up in notepad. Look for the Pipboy section, where you should find three lines starting with fPipboyEffectColor – they’ll have letters B, G, and R at the end, respectively. Each of these corresponds to the amount of blue, green and red in your Pip-Boy light. The minimum is 0, and the maximum is 1. You can play around with the numbers until you get a color you like.

Save the changes and run the game to see the effects. The only downside to this method is that the game takes a while to load, and if you’re not happy with the results, you’ll need to do it all over again.
