Purified water is a healing item in Fallout 76. It’s hands down the best healing item there is, since it replenishes your health but doesn’t give you radiation poisioning – a rare treat in the wasteland. You’ll find it in stashes across the map, but since it’s so great, you’ll probably want a reliable source as soon as you can afford one. There is a way, and this guide will show you how to get purified water in Fallout 76.
Where to find purified water in FO76?
If you don’t want to grow a third limb, you’ll want to get as much purified water as possible. You’ll get a handful of bottles every time you complete a mission. This means following the Overseer storyline will be rewarding enough if you don’t stray too much between missions. You’ll also find it lying around in chests in various places, but it’s hardly going to be enough. It’s still not a reliable source.
How to get unlimited purified water?
If you want all the purified water you can drink, you’ll need to build a simple water purifier in your camp. Once you have the setup, you only have to return every once in a while, and you’ll find a couple of purified water bottles in your stash. Free, clean water.
The purifier isn’t free, though. You’ll need to craft it, and it requires some materials you might not have encountered yet, like ceramics and gears. Both are relatively easy to get, but if you haven’t seen them before, you might need help. In that case, check out our ceramics locations and gears locations guides – they’ll tell you all about how to get these materials. You’ll also need plans, which are like a building schematic, but you’ll get those during the Overseer quest with the Fire Breathers.

You can also use water filters to create purified water from regular, contaminated one. You can find the crafting plans for the water filter at the Pioneer Scout Camp, which is a cabin on the lake northeast of Vault 76. The blueprint will be on a table inside the building with the archery targets outside. In order to craft one, you’ll need adhesive, bleach dogwood and glowing fungus.
